Cairn Geal

This is an opportunity to help on a traditional croft on the north of the Isle Skye, overlooking the sea. We have sheep, a few cattle, a happy band of chickens, a poly tunnel and a large vegetable area where, amongst other things, we usually grow about 6 different varieties of potatoes and a range of brassicas.

There will be a range of tasks, but we particularly need help with such jobs as fencing, haymaking, planting & weeding crops, collecting compost and seaweed, feeding stock, including lambs when available, and maintaining the general structure of an old croft and its buildings.

You will have the use of new purpose built accommodation – warm and cosy in the worst of weather.....and you may experience that on Skye depending on when you come! The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, from whales and sea eagles to more sedate opportunities to seek out the large range of orchids and lichens. There are a variety of walks in the area... but not too many shops nearby.

You will need to be registered through the WWOOFing charity organisation (see link below) and make any application through them.
